SPOKANE, Wash.—Thirty cyclists are due to arrive in Spokane today as part of a 3,663 mile cross-country tour to raise awareness of poverty housing. The group is scheduled to help build with Habitat-Spokane on August 7th at our construction site, 1600 E Boone Avenue, from 12:30 – 4 p.m.
Through the Bike & Build organization, each cyclist commits to raising $4,000 to participate in one of six summer-long cycling tours. The “Providence to Seattle” group left Providence, Rhode Island on June 10 and is scheduled to arrive in Seattle on August 13, where they will build for two days on Vashon Island. Over the course of the 10-week trip, the cyclists traverse 14 states and spend 10 days building houses with local Habitat affiliates.
